Ayron Jones and The Pretty Reckless at the Roseland Theater

Opening up for The Pretty Reckless, Ayron Jones and his band rocked the shit out of Portland’s Roseland Theater. If guitars could speak, Mr. Jones’ axe at the end of the night was whining and begging for mercy. A nine song setlist was simply too short to do this band justice. Midway through their set, as an homage to their Seattle roots, Ayron Jones played a cover of Nirvana’s “Breed”. The instrumental prowess these gentlemen brought to the stage was intense!

Ayron Jones is on our radar and he should be on yours too.

The Pretty Reckless, like many bands, released an album during the pandemic and this was our first chance to hear a lot of those newest tracks live. The setlist included four of the new tracks from Death by Rock and Roll including the title track. Portland fans showed a lot of support for the new album, singing along in the nearly filled Roseland Theater. The setlist also included favorites “Make Me Wanna Die” and “My Medicine” with a single encore “Fucked Up World”.

Lead singer Taylor Momsen has developed her stage presence, moving around the stage throughout the performance; a far cry from her earlier preformances when she used to remain stationary behind her mic stand.

The Pretty Reckless has just a few more shows stateside before heading overseas to perform in the UK and northwestern Europe.
