Nickelback plays a nearly sold out amphitheater in Ridgefield, WA

Nickelback is out on tour and they made a stop in Ridgefield, WA to play a show for roughly 14,000 fans from the Portland, Vancouver, and southern Washington region that came out to see the show that so abruptly got cancelled last time the band came through. Lead singer Chad Kroeger even elaborated on the moment he had to get flown out for emergency vocal cord surgery.

On this night, however, his voice seemed just fine as he ripped through a nearly 20 song set list. Many would argue that Nickelback are too commercial, too formulaic. But, if you take a moment to put the toxic masculinity aside, Nickelback is as Rock and Roll as Rock and Roll gets. Nickelback played all the radio favorites, even playing a cover of Copperhead Road with opening artists Brantley Gilbert and Josh Ross.

Visually, the show was spectacular. Video clips played throughout the performance made it feel like a musical journey. During one of the video sequences, the accompanying guitar sequence would play a handful of notes, cutting out and repeating until the very recognizable beginning of “Animals” could be identified. And of coure the crowd went nuts. Even the guy in the front row wearing the Cannibal Corpse t-shirt.

The “Get Rollin’ Tour” continues all across North America, ending in Fargo, ND on October 5th.
