The HU bring a tribal force to Portland’s Roseland Theater

Oh, Mondays can be such a suck. Gladly, not every Monday has to end in the crapper. At least, not if the HU happen to be hitting your city, as was the case in Portland, OR this week. Touring nationwide with support from The Haunt, it’s your chance to experience a unique spin on the heavy metal you all thought you knew.

With a thundering percussive beat, the 4 member ensemble coloquially known as The HU brought the purple walls of Portland’s Roseland Theater to life. Touring as an 8 member rock superpower, their energy was indescribeable. As if a defibrillator had been applied to the venue, the entire place came to life with a pulse that didn’t cease until the final song had silenced. Through a combination of traditional instruments, native Mongolian pieces, and unique vocals The HU are able to connect with audiences across the world despite the fact that their music is written entirely in Mongolian. That didn’t stop the packed Roseland from vocalizing along with the band, especially during familiar pieces like Shoog Shoog, and Wolf Totem.

If your soul is in need of cleansing through the power of hard-hitting rock/metal music, The HU might just be what the doctor ordered. Moshing during the show was a constant, but unlike the traditional clashing you might find at a heavy metal show, it appeared more rhythmic, perhaps more similar to the rowing you’d experience at an Amon Amarth gig; the entire audience in tune with one another pushing and surging in unison.

The Hu are touring through mid-October circling the United States, Mexico, and Australia. For more information about tour dates and locations, visit thehuofficial.com
