Swedish pop-dance sensation Tove Lo completely mesmerized a packed Roseland Theater in Portland, OR. Despite having a walking boot on her foot due to an ankle fracture on Feb 13th, the “Talking Body” singer bumped and gyrated through her entire set. If she was in any pain, you certainly wouldn’t be able to tell. Tove Lo gave her all, no wincing, no complaints. Her “Show must go on” mentality and work ethic was evident with every word she sang.
Her music is fun, flirty, and at times a little dirty. But, that’s how Portland likes it. Right, you sexy weirdos? The Portland crowd brought out the glitter and glam for the Sunshine Kitty dance extravaganza. The audience shimmied and smiled through the whole set.
About halfway through her set, Tove Lo stood alone with a keyboard, reflecting about the moment she realized that through the success of her music, her life had changed. Fame would now give people license to scrutinize everything about her; the alignment of her eyebrows and other physical imperfections, for example. Her message to the audience though was to embrace those imperfections, that those imperfections are what makes each of us unique, beautiful. She then, alone with her keyboard, performed “Moments”.
In Portland, Tove Lo sang twenty one songs. Don’t worry, your favorites were on the set list and it’s not entirely too late to get some Sunshine Kitty for yourselves. She’s headed over the pond for several european dates, ending the Sunshine Kitty tour in Reykjavík, Iceland mid August.
